There are muscles and joints in your head. FYI, you can release your jaw.

How do they feel today?

Utilizing gravity for your pressure is so rewarding. This is what we do with the foam roller and it just so happens that you can literally do this from head to toe. This post is about the head part.

Why would you think to roll your jaw? If you answer yes to really any of these, you should give it a shot:

  • Are you clenching or grinding your teeth?

  • Do you have headaches often?

  • Do you have pain or restriction in opening your mouth as wide as possible?

  • Pain when you chew food?

  • Got stuff you want to say but feel like you can’t?

Okay that last question is purely emotional but it speaks to the tension-holding power in the jaw and what it might open up for you if you can relax it. The muscles of the jaw are actually some of the strongest muscles of the body, and simultaneously some of the most restricted.

If you’re joining me for this jaw roll, try this:

When you open and close your mouth on the roller, keep it open for a few breaths. Feeling sensations on the side you’re NOT working on is totally normal and just gives you a sense of how the jaw is trying to reorganize itself when you release tensions within it! Enjoy.

Love,

Maggie
